We install water treatment systems in Dutchess County, NY, homes for orange stains in the sink, white crust on the faucets, and grit in the toilet tank. Filtration

A whole-house filter goes on the main water line where it comes into the house, so everything after it gets filtered: the shower, the washing machine, the kitchen tap. Which filter makes sense depends on what's in your water.

  • Sediment filters catch sand, grit, and rust flakes, which matters a lot on a well
  • Iron filtration reduces the iron that leaves orange and brown stains on sinks, tubs, and laundry

Before we recommend a filter or a softener, we get the water tested. We send a sample to a certified lab, or if you've already had it tested, send us the results and we'll work from those. Putting in a filter means cutting into your main water line, which is regular plumbing work for us.

UV Systems

A UV system is a chamber with an ultraviolet lamp inside, installed on your water line. Water passes by the lamp on its way into the house and gets treated as it flows through. It doesn't add anything to the water or change how it tastes.

UV needs clear water to do its job, so we usually put a sediment filter ahead of it to keep grit from blocking the light. The lamp gets replaced on a schedule, and the glass sleeve around it needs a cleaning now and then. We take care of both.

Softeners and Reverse Osmosis

  • Water softeners. Hard water carries extra minerals, mostly calcium and magnesium, that leave white scale on faucets, glass shower doors, and the inside of pipes and water heaters. A softener reduces that hardness for the whole house. It runs on salt that you top off every so often, and we handle the install and any service it needs after.

  • Reverse osmosis. An RO system is a drinking-water filter, usually tucked under the kitchen sink with its own small faucet. It pushes water through a very fine membrane and a few filters, and it's meant for the water you drink and cook with, not the whole house.

Upkeep

Treatment equipment only does its job when someone keeps up with it. Filters clog, UV lamps lose strength with age, and softeners need salt and an occasional check. We handle:

  • Filter changes
  • UV lamp replacement and sleeve cleaning
  • Softener maintenance
  • Service and repairs when a system stops working right

Scale doesn't just stay on the faucets. It builds up inside a hot water tank too, so if yours is rumbling or running short, take a look at our water heaters page.

Water Treatment Frequently Asked Questions

How can I tell if my well water is hard?

White crust on faucets and showerheads, spots on dishes and glasses, and soap that won't lather much are the usual giveaways. Plenty of private wells have hard water, and a softener is the common fix.

Is a UV system a good fit for well water?

It's a common choice on private wells, since well water doesn't go through a town treatment plant before it reaches your tap. Whether it fits your house depends on your water, and we'll pair it with a sediment filter if needed. If the well itself is giving you trouble, we work on well pumps too.

Do I need a water test before you put in a softener or filter?

Yes. A lab test shows what's actually in your water, so we put in the right system the first time. We'll send a sample to a certified lab, or you can send us results from a recent test if you have them.

Can you put a reverse osmosis system under my kitchen sink?

Yes. It sits in the cabinet and feeds a small separate faucet next to your regular one. It needs a bit of cabinet space and fresh filters on schedule.

How often do water filters and UV lamps need changing?

It depends on the system and what's in your water. Sediment filters on a well can need changing every few months, and most UV lamps get replaced about once a year because they weaken even while they still light up. We'll go over the schedule for whatever we install.
